Institute of National Memory Brno is a place where history comes alive through authentic stories of witnesses to key events in Czechoslovak and Czech 20th-century history. Our mission is to preserve the testimonies of those who experienced totalitarian regimes and pass them on to future generations so they are never forgotten.
We focus primarily on collecting and archiving personal memories and historical materials that reveal how totalitarian regimes affected the lives of ordinary people. These stories are an essential source for understanding.

Our partnerships
Partnerships are a key part of how we bring the stories of Memory of Nations to the wider public. We continuously join forces with partners such as ŠTETL FEST, with whom we open up topics of memory and identity in the context of Jewish history, or Meeting Brno, where we jointly reflect on historical events and their impact on the present.
We also collaborate with the Host Publishing House (Nakladatelství Host) on literary projects and debates that introduce powerful human stories.
An important part of our program includes public debates hosted at our venue by the weekly magazine Respekt (Týdeník Respekt), which open up current social topics in a broader context.
